IBC is a church for everyone. We have exciting things going on for people at every stage of life from infants, toddlers, children, teens, singles, and married. Come experience meaningful relationships and spiritual growth for life!

What we believe

  • The Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God's revelation of himself to all people.
  • The Bible is true and trustworthy.
  • There is one living and true GOD who is Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe.
  • JESUS CHRIST is God incarnate. He died for our sins, was raised from the dead, and is coming again.
  • The HOLY SPIRIT is the Spirit of God. He exalts Christ, convicts us of sin, and brings us to Christ.
  • The Spirit empowers believers for worship and service.
  • There is no Salvation from sin apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is God's gracious gift to you.
  • It is the duty and privilege of every Christian and every church to endeavor to make Disciples of all people.

Becoming a Member

You must belong to Jesus before you can obtain membership to this local fellowship. Therefore, we ask all prospective members: "Have you accepted the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ?"

If you cannot answer with a confident "YES," please ask our pastor to explain how you can know Jesus as Savior. While God's salvation is beyond human wisdom, it remains simple enough for even a child to accept. Indeed, you must settle this matter before becoming a church member.

Membership Choices

  • Regular or Full Membership:
We encourage you to seek full membership. We receive Christians who have shared a similar baptism. Your previous church can be notified of this transfer.
If you have never been immersed, we ask you to share this experience which reflects our Baptist name. Our pastor can explain how this is done. When you move away, you should find a local church to join. Your new church will notify us of the membership transfer.
  • Associate Membership:
Some Christians want to keep their ties with a home church or their identity with another denomination or religious tradition. Others feel that their time here is too brief for regular membership. Therefore, we offer an associate membership status.
As an associate member you can serve on committees and even vote on most issues. As with our full members, we desire your regular attendance and financial support. Please understand that this temporary membership cannot be transferred when you leave. Also, a few areas like deacon ministry and chairmanship of key committees equire full membership.
Note: For those who do not wish membership or associate status, we offer an informal recognition as Friends of Church. With your permission, we will place your name on our address and phone directory and and keep you informed of what is happening at Immanuel.

Your Responsibility as a Member

A member agrees to attend regularly when not hindered by work or travel. Our pastor and leaders need your prayerful support. Every member is encouraged to be involved in some form of ministry. We encourage your financial support. The church depends entirely upon your offerings to support our various ministries and missionary outreach.

A Brief History 1957 to Present

Compared to the long-established churches of Europe, the history of Immanuel Baptist Church is indeed brief. The church was founded in 1957, twelve years after the end of World War II. During those years no English-language Baptist churches existed to serve the U.S. military forces remaining in postwar Germany. Immanuel was founded in order to meet that need.

As a young, growing church Immanuel often shifted locations seeking more space for classrooms and parking. The congregation needed a building of its own. The people gave sacrificially, but credit was limited with construction costs rapidly rising.

A German Baptist congregation faced similar problems, so God brought us together. In 1973 the two congregations jointly built a permanent facility. What a blessing in fellowship and efficiency!

In l992, the U.S. military began minimizing its presence in Europe. Consequently, the church refocused its vision and has become an international congregation of peoples.

We currently average 75 in Sunday School with people coming from numerous nations and Christian traditions. Our activities include meaningful worship, sound biblical teaching, prayer, mission activities, and wholesome fellowship.

We invite you to visit us and worship with us. We would like to be your friend.
